DR HANSRAJ MANGRAY

Dr Hansraj Mangray is a reputable paediatric surgeon based in Pietermaritzburg. Dr Mangray opened his practice in 2013 and has since been caring for paediatric patients. Surgery forms an integral part of his treatment plans to assist in the welfare of children. Dr Mangray treats children from the early neonatal stages right up to eighteen years of age. He specialises in minimal access surgical procedures, which carry major benefits because children are less likely to develop scars and recover faster than expected.

As a specialist paediatric surgeon, Dr Mangray performs several surgical procedures such as neonatal surgery, paediatric urology, paediatric surgical oncology and Paediatric thoracic surgery.

Dr Mangray is registered through the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and is a member of the South African Association of Paediatric Surgeons. He qualified with his undergraduate medical degree through the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2001. In addition, he completed his Fellowship in General Surgery through the Surgical Complex at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). Thereafter, Dr Mangray completed yet another Fellowship in Paediatric Surgery in 2011 at UKZN. A year later, in 2012, Dr Mangray was appointed Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at Grey’s Hospital under the guidance of Dr Fernando Ghimenton, the head of the department. In 2015, Dr Mangray was hired as Head of the Paediatric Surgical Department at Grey’s Hospital. Furthermore, Dr Mangray received advanced minimally invasive paediatric surgical training in France and India.

Dr Mangray has been appointed honorary lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and remains a member of the College of Paediatric Surgeons of South Africa. Several peer-reviewed articles have been published under his name. He specialises in laparoscopic surgery and trains medical professionals in this area, improving their ability to perform minimally access surgeries.
